Horologically Update

Hello, I’m Michael and I started Horologically last year as a bit of a passion / side project. The idea grew out of the fact I was spending a fair amount of time making my own tooling and it occurred to me that if everyone else was having to do the same there was probably a market for the items I was designing and making.

However, trying to balance this with the repair side of my business was difficult, and the upfront cost of going through iterations of tools was financially tough. There was also a feeling on my part that the more items I had listed the better and more legitimate the brand felt, so there was an initial flurry to fill the website with items I could have 3D printed quickly, but these items were, while useful, detracting from the items I was proud of. I also found that some of the items I’d designed were being ripped off and sold elsewhere. Quickly the initial enjoyment I got from seeing tools I’d designed and made being used by other repairers and the fantastic feedback I’d received waned.

I kept the original website and domain running so the odd order could be placed but it was costing me more in domain and hosting costs than I was making, hence the decision to move the stock over to this website. I’ve cut out the stock that wasn’t selling and that I wasn’t proud of.

I want to keep Horologically going because I still have items I want to bring to market. The feeling of seeing something go from dodgy sketch, though to a CAD model, to being used by other repairers around the world is not a feeling I want to stop.

So hopefully in the future there will be more items up here to buy. The next one will be the screwhead polisher, I know lots of people have been asking about it and my apologies if I haven’t replied, I will try and do better going forward. There’s going to be some slight changes due to the feedback I’ve had, to make it more useable and easier to manufacture.

I want to finish by saying a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me or provided feedback so far. It’s been overwhelming.

Michael
